20-year-old Terry Whitney and 20-year-old Mercedes Leonard were both charged with domestic assault when conflicting reports were given after an argument over alleged infidelity.
On October 21st, Stewart County Sheriff’s Deputy Casey Wilburn responded to reports of a domestic at 830 Old Highway 79, Lot 19. When he arrived he spoke with Terry Whitney. Terry claimed he and Mercedes Leonard, his girlfriend, were fighting.

Deputy Casey confronted Mercedes, who had reported Terry suspected she was cheating on him and attempted to exit with her phone. She also claimed he grabbed her by her neck, struck her with an open hand, and pinned her on the bed. Terry told the deputy that she initially hit him and he slapped her in response. Due to both having noticeable marks, they were both taken into custody,
Terry Whitney and Mercedes Leonard were arrested and charged with domestic assault. They were released on separate $1,500 bonds.
