Woman charged after passerby reports her in ditch; fails to provide registration and insurance

41-year-old Lisa Hanvey was charged with driving on a suspended license, failure to report an accident, and unregistered vehicle after she was found in a ditch, was found to have a suspended license, and did not report the accident.

On November 20th, Stewart County Sheriff’s Deputy Trenton Hearndon responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Highway 232 near Lower Standing Rock Road. When the deputy arrived, he made contact with Lisa Hanvey. Lisa stated she was driving and hit a deer, which caused her vehicle to land in a ditch.

The deputy did not observe a deer nearby and Lisa did not contact authorities after the accident. The person who called authorities was a witness who had just come to check on Lisa. The deputy discovered Lisa’s license was suspended and she could not provide registration or insurance. Deputy Hearndon also noticed the plate on her car did not match the vehicle.

Lisa Hanvey was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, failure to report an accident, failure to exercise due care, violation of registration law, unregistered vehicle, and driving uninsured. Her bond was set at $4,250.
