Man fires gun during argument with wife while son is present

39-year-old David Spencer was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment after blocking his wife’s car from fleeing the scene of a verbal argument where he discharged a gun.

On October 21st, Stewart County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Knotts was dispatched to 326 Hargis Road in response to reports of a domestic. When he arrived, he made contact with David Spencer. The deputy discovered the couple had been verbally arguing.

During the argument, David reportedly shot a firearm while his wife, Ashley Spencer, and their son were inside the house. He reportedly shoved her when she attempted to grab the weapon from him and stood in front of her car while she tried to leave. Ashley was eventually able to flee the scene and contact help.

David Spencer was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, domestic assault, aggravated assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was released on a $20,500 bond.
