19-year-old Jared Paul was charged with violation of an order of protection after it was discovered during a traffic stop that his passenger had an order of protection against him.
On October 16th, Cumberland City Police Officer Rick Smith conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Ford Fusion on Highway 146 East. Officer Smith identified Jared Paul as the driver and Mercedes Ray as the passenger.
Dispatch notified Officer Smith that Jared had an active order of protection against him that mandated there be no contact with Mercedes. He was then taken into custody.
Jared Paul was arrested and charged with violation of an order of protection. He was released without bond, awaiting a hearing.
